author-kevin newberryKevin has 23 years of experience as a reporter for The Dallas Morning News, San Diego Union-Tribune and The Houston Post and 8 years as a corporate communications director. He also has published a number of books, including Shell Golf Guides to Houston, Austin-San Antonio, Dallas-Fort Worth and Las Vegas. He won numerous awards in corporate communications before creating Houston Links in 2005.

He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1985. While attending SMU on journalism scholarships, he walked on to the golf team in 1984 when SMU reinstated its golf program. Kevin still plays about eight rounds a month and plays to a 7 handicap. His greatest joy is walking through life with his son, Danny.
