Get ready, golf fans. The living legends are going to do it again.
In an exclusive interview with Texas Links, we learned that the Insperity Championship officials have secured RSVPs from Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Lee Trevino to once again take part in a nine-hole exhibition match during the playing of the Champions Tour’s Insperity Championship.
This year Johnny Miller and Raymond Floyd will join the group, along with returns from Don January, David Graham, Miller Barber and Gene Litter.
The second act of “The Greats of the Game” exhibition will be played on Saturday, May 4 during the second round of the May 3-5 Insperity Championship presented by UnitedHealthcare at The Woodlands Country Club’s Tournament Course.
“The response from last year was how much fun they all had seeing each other again,” said Bryan Naugle, of ProLinks Sports, which manages and operates the Insperity Championship. “I asked them if we should try it again. They all said yes, they’d love to come back. So it all just came together.”
Attendance for the Insperity Championship has been free to the public since 2008. It’s free again this year, as is the opportunity to see Palmer, Nicklaus, Player, Trevino and other living legends on May 4.
