The 4,400-sq. ft. facility also is open to the public.Major champion Steve Elkington, who won the 1995 PGA Champion along with nine other PGA Tour victories, joined the likes of Billy Ray Brown, Ed Fiori and Paul Marchand to be on hand for the official unveiling of the state of the art, 4,400-square foot facility. In addition to serving as the new headquarters for UH golf, the academy is open to the public.

Built at a cost of about $500,000 and funded through a joint venture of the Houston Athletics Foundation and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the academy sits on the edge of the club’s massive driving range. It’s adjacent to the first hole of The Tournament Course, home of the Shell Houston Open.

With four indoor-outdoor hitting bays loaded with the latest technology, the Cougars are now the only college golf team in Texas with a home facility that hosts a PGA Tour event. Inside, a players’ lounge and reception area proudly showcases the rich history of the UH Golf and the 16 national championships won during the Dave Williams era of 1952-87. With designated office space, the facility also serves as a second home for head coach Jonathan Dismuke and assistant coach Chris Hill.

Dismuke, in his fourth season as coach, said the facility will help the long-term development of his players as well as recruiting.

“All the best programs have something that separates them from their competition,” Dismuke said, who last season guided UH to its first NCAA Regionals appearance since 2006. “This facility is a gamer-changer for us.”

Texas Links’ Charlie Epps is the director of golf for the academy, and its award-winning staff of instructors is available to help golfers of all skill levels play their very best. For more information, visit davewilliamsgolfacademy.com.
